ABOUT A BOY (12)

In this adaptation of Nick Hornbys bestseller, Will (Hugh Grant) drifts through life, moving from one relationship to the next with little lasting effect. One Christmas he hits upon the idea of dating single mothers but soon finds himself entangled with the suicidal Fiona (Toni Colette) and her 12 year old son Marcus (Nicholas Hoult). As he and Marcus gradually develop a friendship, Will begins to reassess the selfish life he has been living. (98 mins)

THE APARTMENT (PG)

A miserable, foul mouthed conman and his partner pose as Santa and his Little Helper to rob department stores on Christmas Eve. But they run into problems when the conman befriends a troubled kid, and the security boss discovers the plot. Profane but very funny festive tale. (91 mins)
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (PG)
This spectacular and critically acclaimed live-action adaptation of Disney’s 1991 animated classic Beauty and the Beast is a stunning, cinematic event. Belle is a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart of the true Prince within. The sumptuous set designs, memorable musical score and compelling story are complemented by an all star cast recreating the well loved characters, headed by Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast and Luke Evans as the handsome but villainous Gaston ably supported by Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson. This is perfect entertainment for any audience. (129 mins)
THE BELLS OF ST MARY’S (U)
Father Chuck O’Malley (Bing Crosby) is dispatched to fix up an inner-city parochial school on its last legs and his easygoing, unconventional demeanour instantly clashes with that of the no-nonsense Sister Superior Mary Benedict (Ingrid Bergman), who is keeping the school open through sheer will and faith alone. The pair ultimately bond over their differing visions on how to save the school. A blockbuster crowd-pleaser on its release, stunningly restored in HD, the film remains just as affecting today, thanks to Leo McCarey s directorial light touch, Crosby’s laidback charisma and iconic singing voice and Bergman’s radiant charm, all of which earned them Oscar nominations. THE BISHOPS WIFE (U)

A Bishop (David Niven) is losing sight of his family and of why he became a churchman in the first place. Enter Dudley (Cary Grant), an angel sent to help him. Dudley does help everyone he meets, but not necessarily in the way they would have preferred. Everyone loves him, but as Christmas approaches, Henry begins to believe that Dudley is there to replace him at work, and in his families affection. Charming Christmas classic. (109 mins)

BLACK CHRISTMAS (15)

An escaped maniac returns to his childhood home on Christmas Eve, which is now a sorority house, and begins to murder the sorority sisters one by one. Gruesome 2006 horror thriller that is most definitely not full of good cheer. (84 mins)
THE CHRISTMAS CANDLE (U)
This family tale, set in 1890, is adapted from the novel by Max Lucado. According to legend, every 25 years an angel arrives in the English village of Gladbury and blesses one of the candlemaker’s candles, meaning that whoever lights it will be granted a miracle. When progressive minister David comes to the village, a rivalry strikes up between him and the old-fashioned candlemaker, especially when he tries to bring electric light to the church. However, when the special candle goes missing the villagers experience a Christmas they will never forget. This enchanting Seasonal tale stars Samantha Barks, Lesley Manville, Hans Matheson, Sylvester McCoy, James Cosmo, Barbara Flynn and Susan Boyle in her feature debut. (100 mins)

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (15)

A modern-day update of Charles Dickens's festive classic replete with inspired celebrity casting. Tori Spelling stars as Carol Cartman, a ruthless and self-absorbed TV talk-show host who finds herself changed for the better by a quartet of otherworldly visitors, including the Ghost of Christmas Past (Gary Coleman) and the Ghost of Christmas Present (William Shatner). (85 mins)

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (PG)

Outstanding 1999 adaptation of Dickens classic with Patrick Stewart bringing real depth to Scrooge. That doesnt mean he's any less heartless with his hapless employee Bob Cratchit (Richard E. Grant). Joel Grey is excellent as the ghost of Christmas past and a superb cast ably fill the remaining roles. Director David Jones, has achieved a perfect balance of science and sentiment. (93 mins)

CHRISTMAS IN CONNECTICUT (U)

In her newspaper column, Elizabeth Lane (Barbara StanwIck) offers advice as the perfect housewife. However, in reality, she has no cooking skills, no Connecticut farm & no adoring hubby as suggested in her column. Something her boss doesn't know when he decides to invite himself and a recently returned war hero to her home for a traditional family Christmas. Funny, heart warming festive classic. (102 mins)

COOL RUNNINGS (PG)

Based on a real scenario at the 1988 Olympics, this comedy focuses on the trials and tribulations of the first ever Jamaican bob-sled team and their coach (John Candy) who puts together a team that has never sat in a bob-sled let alone seen snow. (95 mins)

DECK THE HALLS (PG)
Chaotic family comedy starring Matthew Broderick & Danny Devito. Steve leads a well-organized life. His new neighbor, Danny is Steve's polar opposite & his intention to create the biggest holiday light display in the world, visible from outer space is turning Steve's disciplined world into a chaotic nightmare. DIE HARD (18)
